About the Role:

As a WAF (Web Application Firewall) Engineer at GoDaddy, applicants join a fast-growing security-focused team committed to securing millions of global customer applications. This vital team is responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing protection for GoDaddy’s suite of digital products, ensuring robust defense against emerging web vulnerabilities and attacks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, administer, and optimize Akamai and Cloudflare WAF solutions to safeguard web applications from an evolving landscape of security threats.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously refine detailed documentation (runbooks, policies, troubleshooting guides) to enable effective day-to-day WAF operations and incident response.
• Collaborate with internal partners (IT, security, development) to ensure protective measures align with both business goals and security best practices.
• Onboard new applications to WAF platforms and enhance platform defense based on analytics and security events.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex WAF or application-level issues, using analytical skills to drive solutions.

Key Technical Skills:

Akamai, Cloudflare, WAF configuration, Web application security, Documentation, Troubleshooting, Analytical skills, Security incident response, Scripting (a plus), DevOps tools (a plus).

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a WAF engineer, with hands-on familiarity using and configuring Akamai and Cloudflare WAF platforms.
• Strong knowledge of web application security concepts and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and business teams.
• Ability to document and maintain operational and incident response procedures.
• Bonus: Experience with automation, scripting, or other security platforms is a plus.
